Bold Films is an independent production and film finance company dedicated to providing an artistic haven for filmmakers. Our mission is to produce talent-driven, studio-quality films, which have worldwide commercial appeal.
In 2014, Bold Films produced NIGHTCRAWLER which was released by Open Road and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo and Bill Paxton. Dan Gilroy wrote the script and directed. Nightcrawler premiered at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival and has been heralded with nominations from The Academy Awards, The Golden Globes, the Independent Spirit Award, PGA Awards, SAG Awards and WGA awards. Bold Films also produced and financed WHIPLASH, the Golden Globe-winning film from emerging writer-director Damien Chazelle starring Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons. The film has been nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Picture. Other nominations include The Independent Spirit Awards, PGA Awards, SAG Awards, and WGA Awards.
Bold Films is currently financing and producing THE COUP starring Owen Wilson, Pierce Brosnan and Lake Bell. The action thriller, written by John and Drew Dowdle, and directed by John Erick Dowdle, will be released by The Weinstein Company. We also recently wrapped LOST RIVER, Bold Film’s third collaboration with Ryan Gosling, which marks his debut as a writer and director. The film stars Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan and Eva Mendes and will be distributed by Warner Brothers in 2015.
Recent film releases include ONLY GOD FORGIVES, directed by Nicolas Refn and starring Ryan Gosling and Kristin Scott Thomas and EVIDENCE, starring Stephen Moyer and Radha Mitchell. Our prior film productions include critically acclaimed DRIVE starring Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan, for which Nicolas Wending Refn won the Best Director Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival while also receiving accolades from the Academy Awards, BAFTA Awards and The Golden Globes. Previously, The Golden Globe-nominated Robert F. Kennedy drama BOBBY, featuring a star-studded ensemble cast that included Anthony Hopkins, Sharon Stone, Shia LaBeouf, Demi Moore and Martin Sheen; and the apocalyptic thriller LEGION starring Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid.
In 2013 Bold Films established its new TV division which produced The BLACK BOX on ABC Network. We are in pre-production on the second season of SyFy Channels highest rated TV show, DOMINION.
GARY MICHAEL WALTERS is the Chief Executive Officer of Bold Films and actively involved in all aspects of the company including production, development, distribution and finance.
In early 2004, European industrial mogul Michel Litvak founded Bold Films along with Walters who assumed the role of President. Since that time, Walters has played a vital role in the growth and success of the company.
Walters serves as Executive Producer on all of Bold Films’ projects, including current feature films WHIPLASH, the Sundance 2014 Audience and Drama Jury Awards winner which was released on October 10, 2014 by Sony Pictures Classics and NIGHTCRAWLER, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo, which was released by Open Road Films on October 17, 2014. Both films were recognized for their cinematic achievements with nominations for Golden Globe® Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, PGA Awards, WGA Awards, and SAG Awards.

ROB MITCHELL brings 25 years of entertainment experience to the company, encompassing production, finance, distribution, operations, and strategic planning.
Formerly CFO at Hyde Park Entertainment, he managed the company’s finance activities, including production loans, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and worldwide distribution. Film releases included PREMONITION (Sandra Bullock), and DEATH SENTENCE (Kevin Bacon).
Previously, Mitchell spent 8 years as a finance executive at Beacon Pictures, involved in the box office hits AIR FORCE ONE (Harrison Ford), BRING IT ON (Kirsten Dunst), THE FAMILY MAN (Nicolas Cage), SPY GAME (Brad Pitt), RAISING HELEN (Kate Hudson), THE HURRICANE (Denzel Washington), and LADDER 49 (John Travolta). He oversaw the company’s production finance, worldwide sales collections, corporate accounting and management reporting, as well as working on first-look deals with Sony, Universal, and Disney.
Prior to Beacon, he served as a consultant to Village Roadshow Pictures. Rob began his career at The Samuel Goldwyn Company rising up to Controller, and was a key financial liaison during the company’s sale to Orion/MGM in 1997.
As CFO of Bold Films, Mitchell oversees finance activities for the company’s film slate. Past releases include LEGION (Sony) and DRIVE (Film District). Presently, he oversees Bold’s current film slate including NIGHTCRAWLER (Jake Gyllenhaal), NO ESCAPE (Owen Wilson), and WHIPLASH (Miles Teller). In addition, he works with Bold’s new TV division, which produced the hit DOMINION for SyFy, and BLACK BOX for ABC Network.
During 2013, Mitchell spearheaded Bold’s first major revolving credit facility with Comerica Bank, allowing the company to further expand into higher budget genre projects going forward.
Since 1990 he has been involved in the production, finance, and distribution of over 35 motion pictures which have grossed $2.0 Billion in worldwide box office.
Mitchell graduated from UCLA and resides in Thousand Oaks, California with his wife and daughter.
LISA ZAMBRI studied screenwriting and film at Emerson College. Upon moving to Los Angeles in 2001, Zambri worked in physical production for two years before moving into development. Prior to joining Bold, she partnered with New Line based production company Contrafilm where she created and produced content in the genre and tent-pole spaces. In 2011, Zambri partnered with Contrafilm owner to start a new company. She became the President of Vinson Films where she was independently producing film and television. Zambri joined Bold in 2014.
